Owing to the sheer quantity of protein powders out there, it is easy to miss out on some of the more unique products. One of these is the Super Advanced Body Fortress Whey Protein Isolate.
But before I get into it, it’s important to understand why this protein powder is unique.
The Breakdown

Of course, ingredients and nutritional value are some of the most important things to consider when buying a protein powder – they factor into every review we do. This powder contains Super Whey Protein Blend (whey isolate and concentrate), Maltodextrin, cocoa, natural and artificial flavoring, Acesulfame Potassium, and Sucralose.
Another unique aspect of the Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein recipe is their whey blend, which contains higher levels of whey concentrate than isolate. This means more calories and more carbs, but also higher nutritional value.
Otherwise, the ingredients list does not look great – it has both sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium, and Maltodextrin, all of which are artificial sweeteners. While the FDA has approved the use of these chemicals, it is obviously better to avoid them if possible.
In terms of the macro nutritional value, Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein contains 200 calories, 3.5 grams of fat, 125 milligrams of cholesterol, 8 grams of carbs, 4 grams of sugar, and 30 grams of protein per serving.
The first thing I want to mention about this is how important it is to closely read labels. The top of the container boasts 60 grams of protein – in reality, there are only 30 grams of protein in one serving, which is pretty standard among the competition.
If you doubled your serving, then you’d be getting 60 grams of protein – always pay attention to the fine print. Otherwise, the cholesterol level is much higher than other competing brands, although the carb and sugar levels are relatively on par.
Additional Info
One of the largest downfalls of the Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein is mixability. It does not mix well – shaking it up leaves protein powder clumps, which make the gritty, chalky texture even worse. The flavor is mild, which is always an upside, especially when dealing with protein powders.
But, while it is mild, it is not good – it has an earthy chocolatey kind of flavor that lingers in your mouth kind of uncomfortably. Of course, both of these things can be remedied when mixed into the right recipe in the blender, but who has the time for that?
Despite the low cost, Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey is not the best protein powder out there. Some of the ingredients are not fantastic, and the bold-lettered packaging is misleading in terms of the amount of protein per serving.
That said, the high level of BCAAs is Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey‘s greatest strength, though I would still opt for Optimum Nutrition or something similar before using this.

How Muscle is built?
Protein, as just about everyone seems to know, is considered to be the building block of our lives. Our skin, hair, nails, and of course, our muscles, are made from protein. If you don’t eat enough protein, your muscles will be unable to regenerate.
With that, the protein itself consists of amino acids (these are essentially protein strands). Among these, there are nine that are considered to be essential: histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine.
These strange names may seem to be of little consequence, but in reality, they are of utmost importance.
Three of them (leucine, isoleucine, and valine) are considered to be Branched Chain Amino Acid (BCAAs). Of these three, leucine is of special importance, as it opens a biological pathway that essentially kickstarts the protein-synthesis process on the cellular level.
Studies have found that BCAAs are essential for muscle synthesis, but that all nine must be present for maximum efficiency.
Enter, Whey.
Whey protein is derived from milk and is considered to be the best source of protein. Whey protein contains all nine essential amino acids, plus a high level of BCAAs, making it an all-around powerhouse.
Just to get an idea of how important BCAAs are, they do more than simply speed up the muscle synthesis process. BCAAs are also integral in reducing muscle soreness, decreasing protein breakdown, and reducing exercise fatigue, in addition to helping prevent the general breakdown of your muscles.
BCAAs are vital. I say this even though protein powder is only a necessity for a very small percentage of athletes. For the great majority of athletes, you can get more than enough protein from eating whole, natural foods.
In a much smaller percentage of cases where the energy you are expending cannot be replenished and restored from food alone, these protein powders become essential.
Where Do These BCAAs Tie In?
You may be wondering where I was going with the whole BCAA thing. Well, an understanding of BCAAs and general protein synthesis is essential in understanding just how unique Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein is.
This protein powder contains 12 grams of BCAAs in 1 scoop. Most protein powders are pretty stagnant at the 5-7 gram mark. This is a significant innovation in the field of protein powder – as I just explained, more BCAAs essentially equals greater muscle growth and less muscle soreness.
You want more BCAAs. And Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein will give it to you.
